Materials Needed:
- Glass Jar, candle holder or bottle
- Transparent glass paint (2 colours)
- Puffy paint/dimensional paint
- Paper plate
- Oven
- Flameless tea light candle
Instructions:
- Pour your first colour of paint into the jar so that the bottom if completely covered.
- Slowly start rotating the jar on its side to that the paint begins to spread onto the walls. If needed add more paint if it doesn’t easily swirl around the jar.
- Whilst still holding the jar on its side, pour your second colour of paint onto the side walls of the jar and continue to rotate it so that all sides of the walls have some paint on them.
- Swirl the jar for a few seconds, then turn the jar upside down on the paper plate and watch the paint pour down the sides of the jar.
- Wait a few minutes and if after that the walls are not covered, you may need to add more paint and repeat this step.
- Once completed, let the excess paint drip down for about an hour, moving the jar around every 15-20 minutes to prevent it from sticking to the plate. Then turn the jar right side up and let dry.
- For the most durable finish, let the paint dry for a full 48 hours and then bake the jar for 30 minutes at 200 deg F in a non-preheated oven.
- After that time, turn the oven off and open the door and allow the jar to cool whilst still in the oven.
- Using the applicator tip on the dimensional paint bottle, paint your desired pattern onto the bottle.
- For the best results, first sketch a design on a piece of paper and practice using the paint before applying it onto your jar.
- Let the dimensional paint dry and you’re ready to go!
This is a great way to upcycle any glass, because you are going to be painting it. So have fun, and enjoy your groovy new Moroccan inspired DIY flameless tea light candle holders!
